Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra (KBSK) in collaboration with STPI (Software Technology Park of India), an autonomous society under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Government of India is building six IT Parks in West Bengal. KBSK has strategically identified Kolkata and five additional locations – Alipurduar, Siliguri, Durgapur, Kharagpur, and Baruipur—for the establishment of state-of-the-art IT Parks. These sites have been chosen based on their unique advantages in terms of connectivity, infrastructure, and potential for regional economic growth. Each location aims to address specific regional needs while contributing to the overarching objective of fostering innovation, employment generation, and sustainable development in India. The IT Park in Kolkata will also host Digital India – Commonwealth Trade Portal – an online trading platform for all MSMEs of the Commonwealth nations.
The Ministry of new and renewable energy under Government of India has decided to develop 40 Greenfield Solar/Hydrogen Smart Cities across India and Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra (KBSK) is the authorized implementing agency of this entire operation. One Greenfield Solar/Hydrogen Smart City comprises of 500 MW of solar power generation, adjoining industrial units, organic agricultural farming, pisciculture in water bodies, university, medical college for medical education and super speciality hospital for advanced treatment of critical disease. It also includes Ayush College and hospital for imparting education as well as treatment in Naturopathy, herbal medicine, Yoga and Ayurveda. There will be plenty of residential arrangement to house more than 100,000 people. These will be ultra-modern pollution free smart cities, with green verge, lot of trees, parks, sports stadiums, in harmony with nature. There will be 40 such Greenfield Solar/Hydrogen Smart Cities across India, entailing 20,000 MW of solar power generation. This has been entrusted to KBSK by the Government of India. An investment of US$ 2.5 billion is needed for each such project. Hence for 40 Greenfield Solar/Hydrogen Smart Cities an investment of US$ 100 Billion is required.
